LEGO One Piece proved to be even more popular than predicted
LEGO One Piece has proven to be even more popular than predicted, if what’s on back order at LEGO.com is any indication.
As the response to LEGO One Piece was positive from LEGO and One Piece fans alike, it was expected that the new theme would get off to a strong start. In fact, we put not one but two LEGO One Piece sets in our predictions of what would sell out on August 1 – and two sets did indeed sell out. However, it’s not quite the ones we expected.
In the US, one of our predictions for sell-out sets has already gone on back order, with 75639 The Going Merry Pirate Ship now shipping from August 21 – a three-week delay. However, the second One Piece LEGO set to go on back order was not the cheapest of the bunch, as we first predicted, but the most expensive of them. 75640 The Baratie Floating Restaurant will ship from August 23, suggesting strong interest in the set.
That means that demand for LEGO One Piece is perhaps even stronger than we and the LEGO Group anticipated, even for the hefty price tag of $330. If fans are clamouring to buy the most expensive set of the wave, so much so that delivery needs to be delayed, it shows that the theme has certainly impressed.
In the UK and Europe, the full LEGO One Piece wave is sitll available to buy without any need to wait for shipping – but if American shopping habits are anything to go by, then don’t wait if you want your copy of 75639 The Going Merry Pirate Ship or 75640 The Baratie Floating Restaurant sooner rather than later.
Instead, European shoppers seem to be going after LEGO exclusives, with 40805 Arcade Machine and 40825 Halloween Wreath both on back order until August 7 in the UK and August 6 in Europe. People are clearly trying to get ahead spooky season on this side of the pond.
