LEGO says Pokémon sets won’t be available ‘in certain markets’
The LEGO Group says its upcoming Pokémon sets won’t be available to purchase ‘in certain markets’ around the world.
Singaporean newspaper The Straits Times reports that the newly-announced LEGO Pokémon range, which is due to hit shelves in 2026, will not go on sale in the Southeast Asian city-state. A spokesperson for the LEGO Group told the publication: “Currently, LEGO Pokémon won’t be available to purchase from the LEGO Group in certain markets, including Singapore, but we will let fans know if anything changes in the future.”
There’s no word yet on which other markets will not receive Pokémon LEGO sets next year, but the LEGO Group has been contacted (via the LEGO Ambassador Network) for further clarification. There’s no immediately obvious reason for the theme’s exclusion from Singapore, either: Pokémon has a significant presence there already, including the first Pokémon Center in Asia outside Japan.
LEGO and Singapore are also closely intertwined, through not only LEGO.com Singapore but also a handful of LEGO Certified Stores and even LEGO Architecture’s 21057 Singapore. At this point we can only speculate on the reason for LEGO Pokémon passing over Singapore and other markets, but keep an eye on Brick Fanatics for further details as and when we get them.
LEGO Pokémon will launch in 2026. The licence previously belonged to MEGA, which has produced more than 150 Pokémon building sets and toys since 2017. only reason I can think into why Lego Pokémon could be restricted in certain markets could be due to Pokémon already having sets with mega bloks.
How does the Lego deal affect the mega bloks deal and vise versa?
Megablocks are stopping producing them this year so will be lego only.
