Fresh LEGO polybag listings reveal new NINJAGO 2023 character

Two new listings for LEGO polybags launching in 2023 have appeared online, seemingly revealing a new character for LEGO NINJAGO.

French retailer Joubec has published listings for 30645 Snowman and 30650 Kai and Rapton: Temple Battle, which will reportedly fall under the Creator and NINJAGO themes respectively. And while Kai is a staple character for the LEGO Group’s current tentpole action theme, Rapton isn’t a name we’re familiar with at the moment.

Given the battle-focused nature of the polybag, which is said to contain 47 pieces, a fair assumption would be that Rapton is a brand new villain for LEGO NINJAGO’s summer wave. Following the events of Crystalized in 2022, this summer’s sets should – in conjunction with the TV series – mark a soft reboot for the theme, so new villains seems a likely prospect.

The latest rumoured list of LEGO NINJAGO summer 2023 sets mentions a couple of potential new characters in Sora and Arin, but this is the first we’ve seen of any Rapton. Their name is evocative of raptors, so could we be looking at dinosaur-inspired baddies for the next wave of LEGO NINJAGO sets?

Time will tell, but for now we can at least update our list of confirmed and rumoured LEGO polybags for 2023. That now includes 30645 Snowman, which will presumably launch closer to the end of the year in line with the LEGO Group’s usual seasonal releases, and the LEGO Batman 1992 polybag also revealed by Joubec.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
