The LEGO Group has shortened the shelf lives of two The Mandalorian and Grogu sets before they’ve even released, while also pulling forward the retirement date of two others.
75454 Imperial Remnant AT-AT with INT-4 and 75453 Offworld Sandcrawler and Mudhorn are both due to launch on August 1, with pre-orders open now in some countries. And when they were first revealed, they were both slated to retire by the end of 2028 – but they’ll now leave shelves by July 31, 2028 instead, as the LEGO Group has shaved several months off their expected production runs.
Also suffering from similarly-shortened shelf lives are 75447 The Razor Crest and 75446 Grogu (Mandalorian Apprentice), which dropped on April 26. Three of these sets are explicitly based on Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, while the Sandcrawler is inspired by the first season of The Mandalorian but still features both members of the dynamic duo.
It’s interesting that the LEGO Group has already started shuffling around these dates, and it perhaps speaks to the performance of both the already-available sets and pre-orders for those dropping in August, which could well be under expectations. We’ve previously seen LEGO sets that are selling especially well receive extensions to their shelf lives, and that obviously cuts both ways.
More than just the LEGO Star Wars sets themselves, though, this change could also speak to how well The Mandalorian and Grogu has performed at the box office – and the LEGO Group’s expectations for the staying power of these characters and these sets.
2026’s portfolio is incredibly Mando-heavy (save for March’s wave of SMART Play sets), while 2027’s initial line-up is rumoured to circle back to original and prequel trilogy icons – a change of direction that could be here to stay if these early signs are any indication.
You can monitor when every LEGO Star Wars set is due to leave shelves over on our retiring sets page. For now, here’s a snapshot of when all of this year’s LEGO Mandalorian-themed sets are currently scheduled to retire. How this list changes (or doesn’t) in the weeks and months to come will be very intriguing to see…
