Remix LEGO SMART Play Millennium Falcon into Andor model

The first LEGO SMART Play alternate build is here after one week, in the form of a long-awaited Andor ship that accommodates the functionality.

We’re just over a week out from the launch of LEGO SMART Play via Star Wars, seeing the release of three All-In-One models and five supporting sets. One of the latter builds is 75426 Millennium Falcon, taking the iconic vessel and adding some SMART Play functionality via the electronic element and SMART Tags.

While other SMART Play sets feature open areas to easily insert and take out the SMART Brick, 75426 Millennium Falcon is much more enclosed by comparison, yet includes a blaster and light-up engines when you place a not-included SMART Brick. These features don’t have to be exclusive to the context of the Millennium Falcon, though, as codyaner.bricks is out to prove.

The Rebrickable user’s latest project has been to remix 75426 Millennium Falcon into Luthen Rael’s Fondor Haulcraft from Andor, a ship we have yet to see in the limited run of Andor models. The vehicle rebuild uses 705 of the set’s pieces and includes the cockpit, a small interior section and authentic shaping. It’s a great use of the SMART Play set on its own, for those who already have a Millennium Falcon in their collection.

Codyaner.bricks didn’t stop there, however. The unique potential of SMART Play’s interactive features hasn’t been forgotten in this alternate model, as the user has placed the set’s tags in the ship to make use of a not-included SMART Brick. As demonstrated in the provided video, the custom creation features a space for the element behind the cockpit to fire the blasters and at the back for the light-up engines.

It’s one of the first fan-driven explorations of the new system and goes to show that the SMART Brick can be completely covered and still function. As more SMART Tags and corresponding features are released, it will be interesting to follow the community’s efforts to remix the contexts of the official sets.

In the meantime, 75426 Millennium Falcon is available now for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99, and the most affordable method of obtaining a SMART Brick is either 75421 Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter for £59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99 or via BrickLink.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
