LEGO Sonic in Sonic Superstars is missing something huge

The LEGO Sonic The Hedgehog skin in Sonic Superstars may be free, but it’s missing a unique look for one of the character’s signature abilities.

Available now as a free download on the platform of your choice, the LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog skin for Sonic Superstars is just one of several minifigure skins for characters in the game. We’ve got a guide on how to unlock most of them here, though you may have missed one without pre-ordering the game that has now launched.

The team at Sonic Stadium have shared a closer look at the in-game skin and have also revealed that LEGO Sonic is missing something. While using skin won’t prevent from transforming into Super Sonic, there is no specialised LEGO skin for the transformation. Instead, it reverts to the default Super Sonic appearance.

While there is no physical Super Sonic minifigure, a designs exists in the digital space thanks to LEGO Dimensions. However, it has not been used in Sonic Superstars.

This may suggest there are no plans for a Super Sonic minifigure in the immediate future of LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog. The LEGO Fun Pack, which includes skins for Knuckles, Tails and Amy, includes the two physical minifigures from 76992 Amy’s Animal Rescue Island and more available sets. However, Knuckles is a new design that has yet to surface in a LEGO set, though rumours suggest that this could change soon.

Whatever the case, there is no LEGO Super Sonic in Sonic Superstars, but the game still features LEGO skins for Tails, Sonic, Amy, Knuckles and Dr. Eggman as well as a LEGO battle arena to enjoy. The game is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
