LEGO Star Wars 2006 and 2025 UCS AT-STs compared
There’s a new LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series AT-ST model dropping next month, and a lot has changed since the 2006 model.
Upon first glance, the new 75417 AT-ST Walker may look familiar to those who know or own 2006’s 10174 Imperial AT-ST, but look closer at the two creations and you’ll see numerous differences between nearly two decades.
75417 AT-ST Walker launches on August 1, 2025, for £179.99 / $199.99 / €199.99 with 1,513 pieces. By comparison, 2006’s 10174 Imperial AT-ST has 1,068 pieces for around £102.17 / $127.55, adjusted for inflation.
| 10174 Imperial AT-ST | 75417 AT-ST Walker |
|---|---|
| 1,068 pieces | 1,513 pieces |
| No minifigures | One minifigure |
| £58.69 / $79.99 (Approximately £102.17 / $127.55 adjusted for inflation) | £179.99 / $199.99 / €199.99 |
| 42cm tall, 24cm wide, 30cm long | 37cm tall, 22cm wide, 22cm long |
The new version is more expensive, but with around 450 more elements accordingly, though it is notably smaller in all dimensions than the 2006 set. Various price increases and the extra pieces help to explain the increased price between the two builds, too.

The models themselves have minimal differences on first impression, with similar proportions. There is an increased level of detail in the 2025 model, thanks to more curved elements and evolved building techniques. This includes more side building on the feet to capture further detail than the 2006 set managed to.
The legs between the two builds have a similar construction to achieve their iconic shape, using Technic pieces to recreate the specific angle, but as your vision climbs those legs, the differences in the models become clearer.

The heads of the 2006 and 2025 walkers are rife with differences, as much as the viewport flaps have nearly the same build. The cannons in the 2025 set use more Technic elements rather than System tube pieces, and the exhaust fans at the back of the head have been shrunk. Additional plates and tiles have also been layered in the 2025 set to capture more specific shaping details from the films.
The hatch mechanism has also been simplified in 75417 AT-ST Walker, but there’s less room inside the head of the 2025 walker for a more complex mechanism.

The biggest difference between 10174 Imperial AT-ST and 75417 AT-ST Walker is the inclusion of an interior inside the head. While there have been unofficial attempts to expand the scope of the 2006 set, the official build has no interior, and inside the head of the walker are just structural supports.

The new 75417 AT-ST Walker has an intricate interior space with controls and two seats, making sense of the opening hatch on top of the walker. It’s a major change for the 2025 build, demonstrating how far the Ultimate Collector Series and LEGO techniques have come, that the new set can accommodate an interior alongside a sturdy structure.
Despite the increased price, 75417 AT-ST Walker is undoubtedly an upgrade over the 2006 set, and that is to be expected nearly 20 years later. 75417 AT-ST Walker will launch on August 1 for £179.99 / $199.99 / €199.99.
