Amidst an endless tide of X-wings, Landspeeders, TIE Fighters and buildable Grogus comes word of what’s shaping up to be a weird and wild LEGO Star Wars 50th anniversary range.
It’s tough to keep the creative juices flowing in any industry after more than 25 years, and for many LEGO Star Wars fans 2026 has represented a sort of plateau even while the LEGO Group tries new things. Beyond the largely experimental – and perhaps not quite so successful – SMART Play wave, this year has been dominated almost entirely by The Mandalorian and Grogu.
The rumoured January 2027 LEGO Star Wars wave sounds like a back-to-basics assortment of playsets, battle packs, Microfighters, ships and buildable characters, alongside the wildcard that is 75466 Darth Vader Art. Mando and Grogu are notably absent from the mix, but otherwise there’s not necessarily been much that screams ‘50th anniversary celebrations’… until now.
As more rumours related to next year’s LEGO Star Wars line-up seep through, it’s starting to sound more and more like the LEGO Group and Lucasfilm are finding new creative opportunities in a range that’s grown a little bit stagnant these past few years. Here’s how…
LEGO Star Wars 50th anniversary minifigures

Following in the footsteps of LEGO Star Wars’ 20th and 25th anniversaries, next year is slated to bring us a new wave of celebratory characters spread across individual sets.
These minifigures would celebrate 50 years of Star Wars as a whole rather than the anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars theme specifically, and we may not have to wait until later in the year to see them – if we’re hearing about them this early, there’s every chance they’ll be included in the January wave.
LEGO Star Wars 50th anniversary sets
As of this morning, there are two specific LEGO Star Wars 50th anniversary sets rumoured for April 2027, when the previously-reported 75477 Minifigure Vignette is supposedly also arriving on shelves. There’s a good chance then that this is a specific 50th-anniversary wave, and the sets in question would certainly align with that theory.

75659 Star Wars Movie Theatre sounds on paper like a brick-built recreation of the experience of watching a new Star Wars movie in cinemas, a tradition many of us have celebrated for years – and some will have enjoyed for five decades by the time this set arrives (if it exists as rumoured). A ‘70s-era cinema would be a nice way to tie it back to the anniversary, too.
At $199.99, there’s real potential in this one, but most of all it marks a significantly different concept to anything we’ve seen from LEGO Star Wars before. Almost everything from this theme to date has adapted something from in-universe (or created something that belongs there) rather than the real world. The price tag actually seems pretty high for what could have just been a novelty set, too.

Reportedly arriving alongside that set is 75XXX Tatooine BTS Diorama, a set that has shades of LEGO Studios with its promising ‘behind the scenes’ acronym (assuming it’s really not a reference to the K-pop band of the same name). It could be similarly meta in concept, zooming out past the silver screen to the actual filming of Star Wars 50 years ago, adopting the approach of sitcom sets such as 21319 Central Perk and 21328 Seinfeld.
We’re still tiptoeing around the edges of what that set could be, of course, and we’ll have to wait for the LEGO Group to officially reveal its Star Wars 2027 sets to know for sure. But from these rumoured set names alone, next year is shaping up to offer something genuinely new and creative from LEGO Star Wars. It’s long overdue.
