LEGO Star Wars movie theatre and diorama rumoured for 2027

Two new LEGO Star Wars sets are rumoured to be on the way in April 2027, each offering something very different for the franchise’s 50th anniversary.

Next year marks 50 years since A New Hope (or simply Star Wars, as it was called at the time) debuted in cinemas around the world. It already sounds like LEGO Star Wars is going to find at least one unique way to celebrate with 75477 Minifigure Vignette, but unibricks has just published the first word on two more sets reportedly on the way next year – and they sound even more outside the box.

First up is 75659 Star Wars Movie Theatre, which is believed to be an 18+ set that will retail for $199.99 in the US. According to unibricks, it’ll hit shelves on April 1, which LEGO Star Wars as a theme has already established as a release window with this year’s 75460 New Republic X-wing Starfighter.

That price tag gives this one plenty of room to play with, but not quite enough to match the Modular Buildings Collection (especially with licensing fees on top), so we’d expect something more like a façade here.

And while we’re firmly in speculation territory, a set recreating the experience of watching a new Star Wars film at the cinema sounds pretty cool – and certainly very different for this theme.

75XXX Tatooine BTS Diorama

There’s no price tag, piece count or even a solidified set number for this one yet, but 75XXX Tatooine BTS Diorama could signal – on paper at least, and by name alone – the return of the dormant LEGO Star Wars Diorama Collection.

Chances are it’s not a mash-up between Star Wars and K-pop group BTS, but rather that ‘BTS’ stands for ‘behind the scenes’. Could this instead be a sort of mash-up between Star Wars and the concept of the vintage LEGO Studios line? We’ll find out in 2027. This one’s also said to be launching in April.

Both of these sets sound like they’re going to take LEGO Star Wars in a very different direction next year, following a rumoured January assortment that ticks regular boxes like playsets, buildable characters and Microfighters.
