LEGO Star Wars Encyclopedia Palpatine minifigure ‘brilliantly executed’

A first review of the 2025 LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia offers up glowing praise for the book’s exclusive Emperor Palpatine minifigure.

The updated LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia launched last week, with the revised edition boasting an Ahsoka Tano cover as voted for via a LEGO Ideas competition last year. In addition to new entries and over 250 fact files, the 224-page book also comes with its own exclusive minifigure.

As revealed back in October 2024, fans who pick up the DK book will be able to obtain a new version of Emperor Palpatine, decked out in his Rise of Skywalker Sith Eternal robes. The same minifigure has also received a closer look by Brickset, revealing if the character is truly worth picking up or not.

The good news for those of you thinking about buying the updated LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia is that the Emperor Palpatine minifigure gets a resounding thumbs-up and is hailed as a “welcome alternative and the design is brilliantly executed.”

The review goes on to praise the minifigure’s head, which manages to accurately capture Palpatine’s sickly appearance and perfect expressions, plus his striking red and back printed robes complete with belt details.

The Emperor Palpatine minifigure is also the first to receive a skirt piece instead of legs, another reason why it might be worth tracking down the LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia.

“The minifigure is truly outstanding,” the review sums up. “Assuming there is not going to be a set based on the climactic scenes of The Rise of Skywalker produced in the near future, Palpatine is an excellent character choice and a firm incentive to purchase the book.”

The LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia is available to buy right now, with Amazon having reduced the price of the title to just £13.59.
