LEGO Star Wars needs a set like 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition
There’s a certain Star Wars location that needs a model like LEGO Harry Potter’s 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition.
The reveal of LEGO Harry Potter’s huge 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition might remind you of another pair of models that seem perfect for the same treatment and budget.

Back in 2012, 9516 Jabba’s Palace launched with a curious feature, a set of indents ingrained into the bottom of the build that didn’t fit with anything released at the time. Why or how anything would fit into this space was perplexing.
However, one year later, 75005 Rancor Pit answered the call, expanding on Jabba’s Palace with a new level of accuracy and playability, offering a multi-level model the likes of which was a rarity for the LEGO Group a decade ago.

Now, that concept has returned in a fresh but familiar way in 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition. Looking at the two models side-by-side, there’s a lot more the LEGO Group can do with Jabba’s Palace by applying the budget and piece count of the new LEGO Harry Potter set to the Star Wars location.
9516 Jabba’s Palace and 75005 Rancor Pit use 1,097 pieces in total, including the specialised bricks for the Rancor and Jabba and around 45cm tall. 10 years later, 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition is sitting at 4,803 pieces and a height of 75cm.

While the latter has fewer specialised elements, the 2023 set is much bigger than the 2012 and 2013 combination models. That’s not the only interesting comparison between the two though.
The Gringotts building is on a 32 by 32 stud baseplate that sits without any apparent stud connections within a frame atop the underground structure. That’s comparable to 9616 Jabba’s Palace and its built-in connections for 75005 Rancor Pit.

Taking it one step further, or lower, the underground area in 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition features an area to feed and care for the Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon, just like for the Rancor in 75005 Rancor Pit.

With these comparisons in mind, 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition offers an interesting take on what the LEGO Group could potentially do with a 2023 LEGO Jabba’s Palace and Rancor Pit.
LEGO for Adults didn’t exist 10 years ago, but now, the big-budget concept of the builds would arguably fit Jabba’s Palace perfectly. While this is only speculation and nothing is confirmed, you can at least get your LEGO Jabba’s Palace experience with 75326 Boba Fett’s Throne Room.
