LEGO Star Wars 75367 Venator is missing one essential feature

There’s something missing from the upcoming 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser, a feature that should be included in the UCS set.

The biggest news of the week for LEGO Star Wars fans is the upcoming release of 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser. The 5,374 piece Ultimate Collector Series ship launches for LEGO Insiders on October 1, followed by a wide release on October 4, with the massive model priced at £559.99 / $649.99 / €649.99.

The colossal vessel clocks in at a staggering 109cm in length, making it one of the largest LEGO Star Wars sets to date, and the UCS build is packed with detail. 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser features huge engines, docking hangars, turbolaser cannons, a command bridge, distinctive red and grey colouring and much more.

However, with so many pieces to play with at this scale, we can’t help but feel a little short-changed by one feature that really should have been included with the warship, but appears to be absent. As seen in The Clone Wars animated series and Episode III, Republic Attack Cruisers were designed to have a massive flight deck located in the central bow section of the craft, one that was capable of launching V-wing and V-19 Torrent starfighters, gunships and other vessels.

A Republic Attack Cruiser’s gigantic hangar doors could split open to reveal a half kilometer long dorsal flight deck, with a shielded area inside that was supplemented by smaller port and starboard docking bays. Ships could take off from and land on the flight deck, although the exposed section was often a weakness that Separatist forces would exploit.

An argument could be made that 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser required a certain dedicated internal structure to support the weight of the ship, one that negated the addition of such a feature in the UCS model. While that may be the case, other similar massive builds such as 10294 Titanic and 75192 Millennium Falcon both include plenty of internal detail, despite their impressive size and piece counts, so it’s a curious omission for sure.

75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser launches for LEGO Insiders on October 1, with a wider release for everyone else from October 4, priced at £559.99 / $649.99 / €649.99. Be sure to take a look at our visual tour and gallery of the LEGO Star Wars set right here.
