New LEGO Star Wars villain represents every fan’s dark ages

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past’s writers have confirmed that the new villain represents every fan’s dark ages.

Solitus is the new antagonist in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past, and with its release coming on September 19, writers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit have detailed what Solitus is meant to represent and how it ties into the overarching LEGO theme of this series.

“In the first series of episodes, it was Sig versus Dev and this idea of building with LEGO and breaking it. shared Samit in an interview SciFiction. “It was two siblings fighting over how to play with LEGO. That was sort of what we were going for. For this one, we wanted an outside threat to take it to the next level. For Solitus, it’s not just the idea of whether you’re building LEGO or breaking LEGO, it’s that you’re still just being children playing with LEGO.”

Solitus is available as a minifigure exclusively in 75414 The Force Burner Snowspeeder. Any physical LEGO appearance of the character is ironic when you take into account what he represents in this story, which Samit goes on to detail.

“The dark ages, uh, is a term in the LEGO community of that period of time where you stopped playing with LEGO before you got back into it as an adult.
And fans refer to that time by saying that a set came out during their dark ages, so they were never able to buy it. So it was that idea of going through the moment when you’re a teenager and you think you can’t play with LEGO anymore. We wanted to personify that idea.”

The dark ages is an incredibly niche callback to the LEGO community as a whole, adding to the many other LEGO, Star Wars and LEGO Star Wars references featured in the special, of which a few have been revealed in teasers.

This new information starts to explain why Solitus’ plan involves disassembling and removing pieces from the LEGO Star Wars galaxy. He’s not breaking them apart; he’s putting them away entirely. When combined with the appearance of Darth Revan, it’s clear that this series will have a lot for enthusiasts to dig into when it starts streaming on Disney+ this Friday.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
