Early LEGO Tower Bridge comparison highlights differences

Early reviews of LEGO Architecture 21067 Tower Bridge are live, including an in-depth comparison with 10214 Tower Bridge that spotlights the many differences.

10214 Tower Bridge, released in 2010, and 21067 Tower Bridge have a great many differences between them, especially in their size and scale. Cheesey Studios has taken a much closer look at what has changed in their early review.

"Even though it's probably about 25% smaller than the 2010 model, 21067 Tower Bridge is still bigger than I expected it to be," comments Cheesey Studios.

"Jamie Berard, the designer of the original set, said that he compressed the middle section to keep the size somewhat under control so that it could realistically fit on a table, but the newer one is much more proportionally accurate."

It's one of the biggest advantages that 21067 Tower Bridge has over 10214 Tower Bridge. While there are only around 300 pieces between the two sets, the new one is significantly smaller in size. That is thanks to the myriad of smaller detail-centric pieces that have been introduced since 2010, but it means that the 2026 model is more accurate overall.

The comparison continues, pointing out the fact that, despite the instructions stating that the real bridge can, the bridge in 20167 Tower Bridge cannot fully open. This isn't an issue in 10214 Tower Bridge, but the increased level of detail may have impacted the new version's functionality.

They also highlight the different techniques for the windows. While the older Tower Bridge set uses brick-built windows given its larger size, the smaller 2026 depiction relies on decorated elements for them. These decorations are all printed and will be useful in other builds, but they jut out from the main structure inaccurately.

Printing them on tiles and making them more versatile as a result appears to be the reason for this inaccuracy, and Cheesey Studios shares that he prefers the 2010 windows instead.

The comparison also offers a closer look at the change to the coat of arms of the City of London, which is printed in both builds. We took a look at the two yesterday, noticing that the new version has been transformed into a LEGO coat of arms with real pieces in the design. It's interesting to see the two designs directly next to one another, though.

21067 Tower Bridge will launch on August 1 for £269.99 / $349.99 / €299.99 with 3,745 pieces. In the meantime, you can also find a smaller model of Tower Bridge in Architecture's 21034 London for a fraction of the cost.
