WATCH: LEGO Star Wars 75355 X-wing Starfighter designer tells all

The designer behind LEGO Star Wars 75355 X-wing Starfighter spills all on the latest UCS set, from the timing of the third-generation design to the exclusivity of its Luke Skywalker minifigure.

Brick Fanatics caught up with designer Henrik Andersen at Star Wars Celebration 2023 to talk all things X-wing, as the man behind the latest Ultimate Collector Series model – and frequent designer of UCS sets – spilled the beans on the secrets of the newly-revealed 75355 X-wing Starfighter. You can check out the chat in full by hitting play on the video below, or heading over to our YouTube channel.

As well as discussing why the timing was right for the third UCS X-wing to date (and Andersen’s second – he was also responsible for the original 7191 X-wing Fighter in 2000), the designer goes into detail on the changes to this specific version, as well as the part of the set he’s most satisfied with. He also gives us an update on where we stand with exclusive minifigures in UCS sets, and whether we can expect Luke to show up anywhere else.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
