LEGO VIDIYO will cover multiple music genres, from pop and punk to reggae and hip hop

LEGO VIDIYO will span multiple music genres across its first wave of products, including pop, punk, EDM, and reggae.

Each of the six newly-revealed LEGO BeatBoxes includes a colourful character that essentially personifies a particular genre of music. 43102 Candy Mermaid Beatbox represents pop, for instance, while 43103 Punk Pirate BeatBox represents – you guessed it – punk.

That may provide some indication of the artists we can expect to see in the LEGO VIDIYO app, which will include a music library of approximately 30 tracks at launch. We already know that Mabel, Marshmello, Imagine Dragons, 5 Seconds of Summer and Meduza will be among the line-up, but the full list of genres suggests the other 25 or so tracks will be a little more eclectic.

You can check out all those genres (and their corresponding minifigures) in the graphic below:

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then. You can follow me on Twitter at @brfa_chris.
