Future LEGO Zelda sets don’t need to be based on video games
With a potential trilogy of live-action Zelda movies kicking off in 2027, future LEGO Zelda sets could have plenty of non-gaming source material to draw upon.
Sony Pictures recently confirmed that its live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda will be arriving in theatres worldwide on March 26, 2027. Based on Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto’s long-running Nintendo video game series, the movie will be directed by Wes Ball, the man behind The Maze Runner trilogy and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
The announcement came ahead of a recent rumour regarding 77093, said to be an 18+ Zelda set that might launch sometime in 2026, following on from last year’s 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1. The latter LEGO Model is currently due to retire on July 31, 2026, with no sign of any follow-ups in 2025 so far.

While speculation might suggest that any such potential second LEGO Zelda set may be based on the video game series itself, that might not prove to be the case. Additional rumours regarding the Legend of Zelda adaptation reported by Video Games Chronicle state that the film may be the first in a possible trilogy of movies, released over a six-year period.
The report goes on to mention that, according to Production List, a tracking service run by the Film & Television Industry Alliance, Sony’s The Legend of Zelda films will be shot in New Zealand, following in the hairy footsteps of Pete Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.

In addition, the original source adds a supposed synopsis for the upcoming movie, which is said to, follow Link, “a young warrior destined to protect the magical kingdom of Hyrule from the forces of darkness.”
“The land is under threat from Ganon, a ruthless warlord who seeks the Triforce—an ancient relic said to grant limitless power,” the synopsis continues. “To stop him, Link must embark on a perilous journey, battling monstrous creatures, exploring treacherous dungeons, and solving intricate puzzles to uncover sacred artifacts that can aid him in his quest.”

So far, so standard Zelda, but if that proves to be the case, not only could potential future LEGO Zelda sets reflect the live-action films, but a dedicated theme and subtheme of releases could be on the way in the years ahead. That move would also mirror the LEGO Minecraft theme, which features core sets based on Mojang’s video game, with a pair of A Minecraft Movie models have recently been released.
Whichever way the LEGO Group may decide to go with any possible LEGO Zelda sets down the road has yet to be revealed, but a combination of video game-inspired builds and movie-based models could ensure that a dedicated Hyrule presence might be with us for quite some time to come.
