LEGO’s latest Bugatti stunt reveals the worst way to build

The LEGO Group has partnered with Bugatti for another car-based marketing stunt, revealing possibly the worst way to build a set.

The partnership between LEGO Technic and Bugatti has included some unusual marketing experiments, including the iconic drivable LEGO Bugatti Chiron from 2018. This year, that partnership continues by placing Mate Rimac, the CEO of Bugatti Rimac, in the passenger seat of a hyper sports car and tasking him with building a LEGO model at high speeds.

Rather than giving Mate a fair chance and having him build something small, such as 77253 Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo, the CEO attempts to put together the 771-piece 42222 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport. As you can imagine, it quickly turns into chaos as soon as the car speeds up. You can watch this new marketing stunt by clicking on the video below and see why it’s probably not a good idea to build LEGO sets in cars going at high speeds.

After first attempting to build the LEGO Technic model from start to finish, it doesn’t take long for the entirety of the building tray to get scattered across the car’s interior. At that point, the LEGO Group has mercy on Mate by skipping ahead five bags, giving the CEO much more of a chance at finishing the build.

The thought of having to fish out all of those loose elements from every nook and cranny of the car’s interior almost has us wishing that part was recorded for the video, as well. We don’t envy the team member who had that job on the day of filming.

While the video is certainly fun, it’s probably not a good idea to build any LEGO set in such a situation, unless you want to decorate the inside of your vehicle with loose pieces. For a more reliable building experience, find a table when you’re putting together 42222 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport, available now for £59.99 / $64.99 / €64.99. LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
