LEGO’s website can’t handle early LEGO Insiders Weekend deals

The first round of LEGO Insiders Weekend deals should be available now – but the official online store seemingly can’t cope with the demand.

The LEGO Group has pre-empted its own Black Friday precursor sale by launching its discounts a day early, with up to £60 / $100 off selected sets at LEGO.com. But to take advantage of any of those deals, you first need to head to the Insiders Rewards Centre and obtain the relevant discount code for the set (or sets) you’re hoping to buy. At the time of writing, that is… impossible.

Head to the Insiders Reward Centre now, and every section – including Featured Rewards and Choose Your Discount, where the codes should presumably appear – fails to load. Stay on the page long enough, and you’ll eventually be greeted with the following message: “We’re currently in the process of building new rewards. Stay tuned for more soon!”

That’s the experience we’re having at the moment, and it’s one echoed by the community across the web. It wasn’t always like this: one Brick Fanatics staffer managed to place an order for a discounted 10255 Assembly Square in the early hours of the morning. But anyone hoping to score a bargain right now is out of luck.

If you were planning to do some shopping today, here’s a quick reminder of all the LEGO sets on which you’ll eventually be able to secure a discount. Note that some of these offers are only available in select regions (10307 Eiffel Tower is only on offer in the US, for example), as noted by the currencies in the table below. If you don’t see your currency next to a set, assume that it isn’t discounted where you are.

The one positive from this IT breakdown – which is not a new phenomenon for LEGO.com – is that the discounted sets may stay in stock a little while longer, and perhaps even through to tomorrow, when LEGO Insiders Weekend gets underway proper. That would allow you to combine these discounts with up to three gifts-with-purchase, including 40601 Majisto’s Magical Workshop and 40602 Winter Market Stall.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

Still getting errors! Frustrating and not surprised that their web stuff continues to struggle. Can brickfanatics post when you see things resolve? Thanks!

I’m actively keeping an eye on the site and LEGO’s socials so rest assured that if there’s an update before midnight, I will share the hopefully good news.
