Licensed HOMEWORLD construction kits use LEGO elements

Official HOMEWORLD construction kits are being released by Brick Formation that use authentic LEGO elements – but are not official products.

In a completely not confusing situation, Brick Formation, a construction kit company, is releasing officially licensed HOMEWORLD buildable models. The kits use LEGO elements, but are not LEGO sets in the traditionally understood use of the term. HOMEWORLD is a classic strategy game released in 1999, that has been resurrected in recent years by Gearbox Software.

There is nothing too unusual with products using official LEGO elements being sold, as happened recently with the AFOL Designer Program. What is unusual is that the products are officially licensed. Three sets are listed as currently available, with more coming soon according to the company’s website. Each model is limited to 100 pieces, and comes at a hefty $250+ price tag.

Brick Formation is looking for new licensing partners to work on products with, the website reveals:

BRICK FORMATION specializes in producing IP licensed kits made from genuine LEGO elements. If you have an Intellectual Property and would like to bring it to retail using brick-built collectibles, contact us via the information in the footer below to discuss your vision and we’ll gauge feasibility.

While it is an unusual route for licensees to take, it might be a way for fans to get LEGO models based on niche properties that would be overlooked by the LEGO Group.
