First look at upcoming LEGO NINJAGO 71810 Riyu the Baby Dragon set

A previously rumoured LEGO NINJAGO set for 2024 has now been revealed, with a first look at what may be 71810 Riyu the Baby Dragon.

Recent rumours have suggested a huge line-up of new LEGO NINJAGO sets might be on their way from March through to June 2024, although that remains speculation for now. Models said to be launching throughout the year may include more mechs, vehicles and locations, as well as potential minifigure firsts such as Euphrasia, the new Elemental Master of wind.

The good news is, we now have our first look at one of those upcoming builds, thanks to an updated Amazon listing for the LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising Character Guide. The 64-page DK book is due to be published on July 2, 2024 and will come with a rare Sora minifigure that’s only currently available in 71799 NINJAGO City Markets.

A back cover for the title has been added to the retailer’s listing, showing what appears to be 71810 Riyu the Baby Dragon, with a new minifigure of Sora plus Arin riding on the creature’s back. That would match a previous rumour regarding what may be a 132-piece set, which was reported to feature new head and wing moulds, as well as minifigures of Sora, Arin and a Wolf Warrior and may arrive sometime in March.

Riyu the Baby Dragon appears to boast a combination of printed and sticker elements, although it’s too early to say exactly which are which in the upcoming LEGO NINJAGO build. The look of the more mature version of the character was first revealed in a recent LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising short.

The only other LEGO NINJAGO Baby Riyu released to date was given away as a free promotional polybag at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con 2023. Versions included a regular take on the dragon’s colour scheme, as well as a variant with glow-in-the-dark eyes.

In addition, the Sora minifigure on the back of the LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising Character Guide includes a new dual-moulded head piece, an element that’s been long-awaited by fans of the theme.

There’s been no word from the LEGO Group regarding any potential details regarding 71810 Riyu the Baby Dragon so far, but we’ll bring you more information on the set as soon as have it.
