Marvel Studios’ X-Men movie to soon start plot pitches

The search for the story for an upcoming Marvel Studios X-Men movie is rumoured to be starting soon but with no hurry to find a writer.

Deadline, whose track record for Marvel Studios news has proven reliable in the past, reports that executives at the studio are planning to start meeting writers this autumn for pitches for an upcoming X-Men movie.

It’s also believed that since the film has not been dated, there is no immediate rush to find a writer, though this process can only start now that the Writers Guild of America strike has ended.

Following the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney in 2019, reports of a Marvel Studios X-Men movie should come as no surprise. There’s even been the introduction of mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Ms. Marvel and Namor and a brief appearance of Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

It could be some time before we see the team properly debut in the MCU but there’s plenty to look forward to in the meantime. This ranges from the immediate future featuring The Marvels, Loki Season 2 and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to far-off projects including two more Avengers movies.

The timing of this news also happens to coincidentally come just after a listing for a 2024 LEGO Marvel X-Men set, marking the full return of the team to the theme after a decade.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
