More LEGO Disney Villains minifigure sets we need

The latest LEGO Disney set to be revealed paves the way for more minifigure villain models, and there are quite a few we need next.

The reveal of 43277 Cruella De Vil’s Car earlier today came as a surprise for a number of reasons, namely for the facts that Disney Villains appears to be a new subtheme of LEGO Disney sets judging by the box art, and that this model comes with a minifigure and not a mini-doll as we saw in 43262 Maleficent’s and Cruella De Vil’s Dresses.

LEGO Disney 43277 Cruella De Vils Car 1 994x1024

It’s the same minifigure as 71038 Disney 100 (minus the Fabric cape), but it’s still surprising to see a LEGO Disney Villains set with a minifigure after the previous focus on mini-dolls in the theme. Hopefully, this will open the door for more LEGO Disney Villains minifigure models, and there are plenty of possibilities for sets.

Here’s a few ideas for LEGO Disney Villains minifigure sets, but note that this is only speculation and only 43277 Cruella De Vil’s Car is confirmed at the time of writing. 43277 Cruella De Vil’s Car will be released on September 1 for £44.99 in the UK, $49.99 in the US, and from €49.99 in Europe.

The Evil Queen’s lair

The Evil Queen received a minifigure in the same series as Cruella, 71038 Disney 100, and a small playset or diorama of her lair would make for a great build that would only need to reuse the parts from the existing minifigure instead of requiring any additional printing.

Something similar to 76431 Hogwarts Castle: Potions Class would be a great foundation for an affordable LEGO Disney Villains minifigure model, but with some Disney touches.

Gaston’s tavern

Despite Gaston’s recent appearance in 43263 Beauty and the Beast Castle, a smaller set featuring the minifigure depicting Gaston’s Tavern would be a good opportunity to reuse his and LeFou’s minifigures.

Scattering LEGO antlers throughout the build and including five dozen eggs are just some of the many references that would be ideal for such a set, and a play feature to replicate the movement of the musical number isn’t impossible either.

The Jolly Roger

LEGO pirate ships will always prove to be popular, and integrating one into the Disney theme is a way to offer a more affordable ship than the likes of the BrickLink Designer Program, while attaching the recognition of the Disney IP to it for more assured success.

Captain Hook’s Jolly Roger is practically begging for a LEGO set, and alongside Peter Pan, it would be a chance to give us a Mr. Smee minifigure as well, finally. It would be a set to appeal to LEGO Pirates and Disney fans alike.

Hades and the Titans

Given the LEGO Group’s range of mech joints and experience with upscaled creatures across NINJAGO, Creator and more, a LEGO Disney set featuring at least one of the Titans from Hercules is a great option for a future LEGO Disney Villains minifigure model.

Both Hades and Hercules from the older LEGO Disney minifigure series would be perfect picks, but opting for just the former would still work while keeping the focus on the villain.

Dr. Facilier’s Voodoo Emporium

More LEGO The Princess and the Frog sets following the two minifigures in 71038 Disney 100, and the third in 43222 Disney Castle, seem likely at some point. One option for a future model tying into the Disney Villains line would be a small model of Dr. Facilier’s Voodoo Emporium, capturing a small slice of the mystical and dark shop.

Official merchandise of the storefront has eschewed ‘Voodoo’ in its name entirely, demonstrating what Disney might require of such a LEGO set. The character itself is evidently fine for the LEGO Group, since he appeared in 71038 Disney 100.

Maleficent’s Castle

Rounding out the list of options for future LEGO Disney Villains minifigure sets is a recreation of Maleficent’s castle on the Forbidden Mountain. 41180 Ragana’s Magic Shadow Castle from LEGO Elves can serve as a foundation for such a model, but with minifigures instead of mini-dolls.

Wily_Creations on LEGO Ideas has already showcased what a minifigure-centric model of the castle can look like, and an official LEGO design would be able to expand on this concept for another grand LEGO castle to rival 31168 Medieval Horse Knight Castle.

This is all only speculation, but at least for now, we can look forward to 43277 Cruella De Vil’s Car when it is released on September 1 for £44.99 in the UK, $49.99 in the US, and from €49.99 in Europe.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
