More LEGO Nintendo Game Boy set rumours emerge
We may already know more about the upcoming LEGO Nintendo Game Boy than we realised, if the latest rumours are to be believed.
The LEGO Group today announced the first details of its next licensed collaboration with Nintendo via official social media platforms. The LEGO Nintendo Game Boy is due to be released October 2025, although there’s currently no additional information available regarding a specific date, piece count, prices or theme.
However, fresh rumours have now emerged regarding the upcoming LEGO Nintendo Game Boy that may tie in with previous speculative reports. Usually reliable Instagram user a.clay.brick states that the product number for the Nintendo model may be 72046, originally believed to be an 18+ LEGO Super Mario build said to be priced at $69.99.
The latest rumour could make a lot of sense, considering that the soon-to-retire 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System comes in at £229.99 / $269.99 / €269.99 for 2,646 pieces. We’d assume the LEGO Nintendo Game Boy would utilise a lot less elements than its console big brother and be much smaller in size, matching the potential price of 72046.
The majority of the target audience for the LEGO Nintendo Game Boy would also be 18+, tapping into a sense of nostalgia for a bygone era of classic video games and consoles. Then there’s the obvious connection between the classic handheld console and the Super Mario brand, making the upcoming release a good fit for the LEGO Super Mario theme.
