The most expensive LEGO sets of all time, now adjusted for inflation

There’s a new most expensive LEGO set on the block, but how far behind do its nearest competitors lag – and how much would they cost if released today?

It’s no secret that 75419 Death Star is taking pole position on this list, toppling two of its contemporaries from a galaxy far, far away. That’s where retail prices are concerned, though: and thanks to the power of inflation, sets further down this list may be closer than you’d first think if they were released today.

This isn’t a list of the most expensive LEGO sets of all time when adjusting for inflation, because that would mean adjusting basically every set ever released for inflation. (And there are a lot of those.) Instead, it’s a list of the 10 most expensive LEGO sets by original RRP, but we’ve then chucked in the inflation-adjusted figure for those sets just to see how they’d stack up today – and where 75419 Death Star really fits into the picture.

10 – 10276 Colosseum

LEGO 10276 Colosseum 22

Theme: LEGO Icons Pieces: 9,036 Release date: November 27, 2020

Price: £474.99 / $549.99 / €549.99 UK price adjusted for inflation: £608.70

10276 Colosseum was the first LEGO set to break the 9,000-piece barrier, but only just scrapes on to this list by the skin of its 2,000-year-old teeth. It debuted in 2020 for £474.99, which in today’s money is just north of £600. That’s still less than a new copy will cost you on the aftermarket in 2025…

9 – 75331 The Razor Crest

LEGO Star Wars 75331 The Razor Crest featured 1 1024x576

Theme: Star Wars Pieces: 6,187 Release date: October 3, 2022

Price: £519.99 / $599.99 / €599.99 UK price adjusted for inflation: £595.39

By the end of 2025, half the sets on this list will have retired, and among those currently available but leaving shelves very soon is 75331 The Razor Crest. It’s the sixth-most-expensive LEGO Star Wars set of all time (at retail), and while you can still grab it for £519.99 at LEGO.com, its price adjusted for inflation would actually be closer to £600.

8 – 10307 Eiffel Tower

LEGO Icons 10307 Eiffel Tower featured 1 1024x576

Theme: LEGO Icons Pieces: 10,001 Release date: November 25, 2022

Price: £554.99 / $629.99 / €629.99 UK price adjusted for inflation: £635.46

The biggest LEGO set in this list by piece count, 10307 Eiffel Tower is a soaring tribute to the Parisian icon that stands a whopping 149cm tall. It’s also available exclusively at the LEGO Store and LEGO.com, so discounts on its £554.99 price tag are rare – but just be glad it isn’t launching this year, because it would probably cost somewhere closer to £635.

7 – 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser

LEGO Star Wars 75367 Venator Class Republic Attack Cruiser featured image 2 1024x576

Theme: LEGO Star Wars Pieces: 5,374 Release date: October 1, 2023

Price: £559.99 / $649.99 / €649.99 UK price adjusted for inflation: £590.26

One of the more recent releases among the pack here, 75367 Venator-class Republic Attack Cruiser flew on to shelves in 2023, so inflation has only had a little bit of time to do its thing. An increase of £30 is still nothing to sniff at – even if it would technically place this Ultimate Collector Series set bottom of an inflation-adjusted version of this list.

6 – 42146 Liebherr Crawler Crane LR 13000

LEGO Technic 42146 Liebherr Crawler Crane LR 13000 Lifestyle featured 1024x576

Theme: Technic Pieces: 2,883 Release date: August 1, 2023

Price: £579.99 / $699.99 / €679.99 UK price adjusted for inflation: £611.34

Another 2023 release, the most expensive LEGO Technic set of all time would cost around £611 if released today (and all else being equal). Instead, 42146 Liebherr Crawler Crane LR 13000 is still available for £579.99 at retail, and much less through third-party discounts, but is also retiring by the end of 2025…

5 – 10294 Titanic

LEGO for Adults 10294 Titanic featured 3 1024x576

Theme: LEGO Icons Pieces: 9,090 Release date: November 8, 2021

Price: £589.99 / $679.99 / €679.99 UK price adjusted for inflation: £693.28 (based on original RRP)

The biggest leaps in value when adjusted for inflation will obviously hit older sets, and that accounts for pretty much the rest of this list (save for top spot, for obvious reasons). 10294 Titanic sailed into stores in 2021 for £554.99, then saw its RRP bumped up to £589.99 amid a wave of price increases in 2022. Adjusting its original price for inflation takes us to almost £700 today, so it could have been worse…

4 – 75252 Imperial Star Destroyer

LEGO Star Wars 75252 Imperial Star Destroyer featured 1024x576

Theme: LEGO Star Wars Pieces: 4,784 Release date: October 1, 2019

Price: £614.99 / $699.99 / €699.99 UK price adjusted for inflation: £794.81

75252 Imperial Star Destroyer is long since retired, but its original RRP of £614.99 in 2019 would put it at almost £800 today – so expect any future UCS Star Destroyers, or variants thereof, to be competing for a place in this list (should they happen at all!).

3 – 75313 AT-AT

LEGO Star Wars 75313 AT AT 17 1024x683

Theme: LEGO Star Wars Pieces: 6,785 Release date: November 26, 2021

Price: £734.99 / $849.99 / €849.99 UK price adjusted for inflation: £918.12

Here’s where things get really interesting. 75419 Death Star is currently the most expensive LEGO set of all time at £899.99 in the UK (spoilers). But if 75313 AT-AT arrived on shelves today, it would technically be a little bit more expensive when adjusting its original RRP for inflation. The LEGO Group would probably position it at £899.99 for a nice round number, so just consider that the Death Star is basically on a par with the AT-AT…

2 – 75192 Millennium Falcon

LEGO Star Wars 75192 Millennium Falcon lifestyle featured resized 1024x576

Theme: Star Wars Pieces: 7,541 Release date: October 1, 2017

Price: £734.99 / $849.99 / €849.99 UK price adjusted for inflation: £876.28 (based on original RRP)

The oldest LEGO set on this list also received a price bump in 2022, having initially retailed for £649.99 at launch in 2017, before climbing to £734.99 five years later. Adjusting its original price for inflation brings it up to just south of 75419 Death Star’s RRP, so when you think about it 75192 Millennium Falcon is even better value in 2025 – especially when you can pick it up on sale pretty regularly for closer to £500 or £600.

1 – 75419 Death Star

LEGO Star Wars 75419 Death Star featured 1024x576

Theme: LEGO Star Wars Price: £899.99 / $999.99 / €999.99 Pieces: 9,023 Release date: October 1, 2025

All of which brings us to the new most expensive LEGO set of all time, which even when adjusting for inflation would probably still at least tie with the AT-AT and Millennium Falcon at the top of this list. That says something about the jump in price 75419 Death Star represents generally speaking, but perhaps also points to the LEGO Group’s current upper limit for products. At least until inflation has its way, mind.

This is of course all couched by the fact that wage inflation has not necessarily kept pace around the globe with product inflation, so while we can point to the Falcon and say it would cost £900 in 2025, it doesn’t mean it’s really a bargain at £735 that everyone can instantly afford. But it does at least put the Death Star into perspective: if this set had launched in 2017, maybe it would have retailed for less than £700…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
