Netflix tees up Dungeons & Dragons live-action series in perfect storm for LEGO
A live-action Dungeons & Dragons series is reportedly in the works at Netflix, creating the perfect storm for the LEGO Group off the back of its recent foray into tabletop roleplaying games.
Deadline reports that Netflix has picked up a long-gestating live-action D&D series from showrunner and writer Drew Crevello, thanks in part to Stranger Things and Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy joining the project. The fantasy series will apparently be titled The Forgotten Realms, drawing on the same source material as the 2023 movie Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves, but won’t be formally connected to that film.
That’s good news for those of us keen on more LEGO D&D after 2024’s 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale and 71047 Dungeons & Dragons Collectible Minifigures, not least because the LEGO Group has recently solidified its working relationship with Netflix even further through its newly-announced One Piece theme. A D&D series on the streamer seems like the perfect excuse to drum up an entire wave of products hooked to the roleplaying game.

Netflix and Hasbro Entertainment both declined to comment on the story to Deadline, and given the project is likely to be in the earliest stages of development we’re probably going to be waiting a while before it comes to fruition. The LEGO Group and Hasbro have clearly been happy to play ball over the existing D&D range, though, so when the time comes it feels like a no-brainer – not least thanks to the reception to the Ideas set.
This isn’t to say we shouldn’t expect to see other LEGO D&D sets in the meantime, or at the very least a second Collectible Minifigures series, but with not so much as a rumour of anything more floating around at the minute, we’ll probably be waiting until at least next year for more from this medieval fantasy setting – if we get anything at all.
In the meantime, 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale is available to buy right now from LEGO.com.
