New LEGO Art parrot set rumoured for 2024

Next year’s first LEGO Art set will reportedly see the LEGO Group build on its growing obsession with parrots.

Since breaking beyond the borders of its conventional two-dimensional mosaics, the LEGO Art theme has continued to go to strange new places, most recently in this summer’s 31209 The Amazing Spider-Man and 31210 Modern Art. In 2024, the line-up will apparently take its cues from this year’s Creator 3-in-1 sets 31136 Exotic Parrot and 31144 Exotic Pink Parrot, delivering a duo of buildable birds in 31211 Pair of Parrots.

That’s according to Instagram user brick_clicker, who reports that the 644-piece set will retail for $50 when it launches on January 1, 2024. 31211 Pair of Parrots is said to include – as it says on the tin – two animals built in two dimensions, but not as a mosaic along the lines of the retiring 31207 Floral Art. Instead, the set will apparently be a ‘freeform model’ like 31206 The Rolling Stones.

Beyond eschewing a frame, that comparison suggests that 31211 Pair of Parrots could also be textured in the same way as the giant red lips and tongue, essentially recreating a relief painting (while still remaining mostly two-dimensional). Either way, brick_clicker claims that you’ll be able to hang it on a wall – the binding commonality of all LEGO Art sets, no matter their shape and size. So, no prizes for guessing that one.

All word on 31211 Pair of Parrots is still only rumoured for the moment, and shouldn’t be taken as gospel until we get official confirmation from the LEGO Group. Always worth bearing in mind…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
