New LEGO space GWP officially revealed

A listing on the official online LEGO store has revealed an upcoming gift-with-purchase themed around a vibrant eatery – in space.

The LEGO Group has officially revealed an upcoming space-themed GWP, 40687 Alien Space Diner, made up of 239 pieces. While there are no details confirmed on the minimum spend or dates yet, the fact that it’s appeared on the official online store means that an announcement with those details is likely just around the corner.

The set itself includes a variety of space-themed elements and buildable accessories, the most exciting of which is the orange classic space astronaut, previously only available in full via the 2020 book LEGO Minifigure: A Visual History New Edition. This GWP should make him easier to get hold of, along with a white-suited companion.

The diner is styled like a futuristic version of a classic American diner, with checkerboard tiles, a multi-armed alien to serve guests, and some surprisingly normal-looking food options on the stickered menu. Most of the set sits on a contained base, but the two minifigures and diner sign stand independently.
