Three new Star Wars shows and shorts streaming now for May the 4th

Three new Star Wars shows and shorts are now streaming for the first time on Disney+, as the full May the 4th celebrations begin worldwide.

Today is Star Wars Day, and while the LEGO Group has been busy celebrating since the start of the month with its own offers, discounts and gifts-with-purchase, Disney has waited until the day itself to drop a bunch of new content on its streaming platform. Those include a brand new show, a second season of an existing series, and a new short bringing together two different Disney properties. (Disney owns everything now, remember.)

First up is Young Jedi Adventures, an animated series aimed at kids that’s already inspired one LEGO Star Wars set in 75358 Tenoo Jedi Temple. Set during the High Republic era, centuries before the events of The Phantom Menace, the show follows a gang of younglings training to become Jedi Knights. (You’ll see a couple of familiar faces, too, including Yoda.) All seven episodes are streaming now.

Star Wars: Visions is back for a second season, meanwhile, with nine new animated shorts celebrating the mythology of a galaxy far, far away. The anthology series originally debuted in 2021, and this new collection of episodes includes efforts from studios such as Aardman, PunkRobot and Cartoon Saloon. Each instalment runs no longer than 20 minutes, so it’s perfect bite-size viewing.

We’re yet to see any LEGO sets inspired by Star Wars: Visions, but if the LEGO Group is looking for something a little outside the box, it knows where to turn…

Finally, The Simpsons and Star Wars meet again in a new short titled Maggie Simpson in Rogue Not Quite One. Everyone’s favourite yellow-skinned baby comes face to face with Imperial TIE Fighters after hopping a ride in Grogu’s pram, and ultimately brings the battle back to Springfield. The four-minute clip follows previous Simpsons shorts including Maggie Simpson in The Force Awakens From Its Nap. Don’t expect anything LEGO-related from this one.

If you’re yet to take advantage of the LEGO Group’s May the 4th offers, there’s no time like the present. 75355 X-wing Starfighter is available to all from today – not just VIP members – though it’s worth signing up to the LEGO Group’s loyalty scheme if you haven’t already, as you’ll earn double VIP points until May 7. Snagging the new UCS set will also net you all three of this year’s freebies.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
