Nigel Mansell on his LEGO Formula 1 set – ‘magical’

The LEGO Group’s marketing for the March Formula 1 sets is in full swing, now including a video of the legendary Nigel Mansell reacting to his set and minifigure.

Following a similar video featuring Max Verstappen, the LEGO Group has now brought in Nigel Mansell to react to his tribute LEGO Formula 1 set. The legendary driver, whose Formula 1 career spanned 15 seasons with 31 wins and 59 podium placements, has taken a closer look at 10353 Williams Racing FW14B & Nigel Mansell on Facebook, giving us a peek inside the build too.

“It’s a brilliant interpretation of Red Five and I love that you create it yourself,” shared Mansell. “You’re the driver, you’re in control. It’s like conjuring, like magic.”

“There are so many magical moments that this model represents – when you’re racing flat out and it feels like you’re flying. We had good times me and this machine, now let’s take her for a spin.”

Throughout the new video, a closer look at the decorations on the seat and in the engine are showcased, offering comparisons to 10330 McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna as you would expect from the second tribute Formula 1 model. Still, there’s something undeniably special about seeing such a legendary Formula 1 figure reacting to a set that pays homage to him and Red Five, including a moustached minifigure that he can’t help but appreciate.

You can find the original video here and it’s well worth a watch for avid Formula 1 enthusiasts, if only to see Mansell reunite with the vehicle that helped make him a legend in motorsport. 10353 Williams Racing FW14B & Nigel Mansell will be released on £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99 and pre-orders are open now. A closer look at the recreation was recently revealed too.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
