LEGO Architecture 21062 Trevi Fountain may include a suitable surprise

There just might be a suitably themed surprise awaiting builders who assemble the upcoming LEGO Architecture 21062 Trevi Fountain.

The LEGO Group officially unveiled 21062 Trevi Fountain yesterday, a 1,880-piece build scheduled for launch on March 1. Priced at £139.99 / $159.99 / €159.99, the LEGO Architecture set recreates the iconic Rome baroque monument in exacting detail, complete with minifigure statues, mini hippocampi and a brick-built Lovers’ Fountain.

Ahead of 21062 Trevi Fountain’s arrival, LEGO Architecture designer Mary Wilson has been talking to fan media about the model she created, revealing exactly what went into the look of the set. In a recent video interview with Zusammengebaut, the designer just happened to mention that there might be a suitable surprise awaiting those who assemble the upcoming build.

One of the key attractions for visitors who travel to see the real Trevi Fountain in person is the chance to throw coins into the water before leaving ‘the eternal city’. A superstition associated with the location states that those who do so will return to the Italian capital one day.

LEGO Star Wars mid-scale ships often include tiny one stud versions of characters from the saga, such as the miniature Ahsoka Tano, Hera Syndulla and R2-D2 hiding inside 75405 Home One Starcruiser.

Whether a similar kind of secret representing coins will be included in 21062 Trevi Fountain remains to be seen, but the designer’s subtle hunt would seem to suggest there’s certainly some sort of surprise tucked away inside the upcoming build.

21062 Trevi Fountain will be released on March 1, priced at £159.99 / $159.99 / €159.99, and the LEGO Architecture set is available to pre-order now in the UK, US and Europe.
