Design a nostalgic LEGO Ideas set with a twist to win big

The latest LEGO Ideas challenge is all about nostalgia, transforming builds from the past with a twist to become a future gift-with-purchase.

The LEGO Ideas team are looking for the next fan-designed gift-with-purchase, inviting users to lean into nostalgia and reimagine a set from their childhood with some kind of twist. Whatever the twist you introduce is, it must be distinctly modern and breathe life into a classic creation, imagining what it would look like if it were released today.

From the Black Seas Barracuda to the Classic Space Monorail, there’s a lot of potential in this challenge, but make sure that you keep your entries between 200 and 250 pieces. All submissions must be inspired by a specific LEGO set. These can’t be from licensed themes, including Star Wars, but they can be from original themes such as NINJAGO and BIONICLE.

You can find the rest of the rules by heading to the challenge page, where you’ll also get a glimpse at the prizes up for grabs.

The grand prize of this challenge includes a generous selection of sets, as well as the opportunity to help design a future gift-with-purchase and receive the usual 10 copies of that set and credit as the fan designer. There will be a single runner-up too, with five sets going to them.

The results of this challenge will be announced no later than May 28 and will join the list of every LEGO Ideas set in production.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
