LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed will soon be playable once more, thanks to Netflix

This acquisition from a streaming platform might be the reason behind LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed’s retirement a few months ago.

LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed is an entirely LEGO-based game from Gameloft, where you fight through battles to win and collect different minifigures, including popular characters like Chicken Suit Guy, Hot Dog Man, Pirate Princess Argenta, Santa and Ghostbusters, and more. First created all the way back in 2019, the mobile game retired from all major app stores in February of this year. Now, however, we might have found the reason why.

Netflix has announced that it will be hosting LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed exclusively on the gaming section of the streaming platform’s mobile app, as reported by Tech Crunch. It’s not yet been confirmed when exactly the brick-battling game will come to the app, but this does mean that the game will no longer be free to play for all, as Netflix Gaming is only open to Netflix subscribers.

Launched in November 2021, Netflix Gaming is another effort from the streamer to encourage more people to subscribe, as its new customer numbers have been steadily dropping in the last few years. So far, there have been a number of games tied to popular titles, such as Squid Game and Queen’s Gambit, as well as acquisitions like LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed.

We’ll keep you posted on when the popular mobile game will be available to play on Netflix. Until then, a. version of the game is currently only available on Facebook’s gaming platform on the web, with plans for this to be shut down at the end of 2023 as well.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
