If there’s something strange in your neighbourhood, get on the phone to Zavvi, which has now slashed the price of LEGO Icons 10274 Ghostbusters ECTO-1 even further.

Zavvi originally discounted the ‘80s icon by a tempting 29% last week, but has now taken a further £5 off the asking price – bringing it down to just £144.99. That’s a total of £65 off its RRP, which is the best deal we’ve seen on the 2,352-piece set since October 2022. The supersized vehicle is the third LEGO ECTO-1 to roll out of Billund, and easily the biggest and best. It’s packed with details and functions, including working steering, a trapdoor with ghost trap, an extending gunner seat with Proton Pack and plenty of paranormal detection equipment, and comes in at a mighty 47cm long, 22.5cm tall and 16.5cm wide. That’s big enough to draw the eye, but not large enough to require an entire new shelving unit.

Originally released in November 2020 ahead of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the ECTO-1 is as much an icon of the famed movie franchise as its characters – so while 10274 Ghostbusters ECTO-1 doesn’t include any minifigures, it arguably doesn’t need them. The focus here is entirely on the build, and it’s as involved as it is satisfying, building on the history of large-scale LEGO Icons vehicles with new and improved techniques.
