The reactions to LEGO Twilight House stay true to the franchise
Just like the books and films that came before, LEGO Ideas 21354 Twilight: The Cullen House has equal measures of fans and critics.
A few days on from the official reveal of 21354 Twilight: The Cullen House, there’s been enough time for everyone to have their say – and people have a lot to say. From Twilight fans who are just happy to see their favourite characters in minifigure form to LEGO fans who want to dig into the details, there are certainly some divided opinions about the upcoming LEGO Ideas set.
Calling all Twilight fans
For any fandom the size of Twilight, there was always going to be a healthy dose of excitement. Even over a decade on from the last movie, which came out in 2012, there are still plenty of people hankering for more Twilight content. What’s more, it taps into a demographic who have now grown up from teenagehood and have adult jobs and money in order to buy such a set.
Praise for the brighter colours…

One feature we picked up on in our comparison of the final set to its original fan-made design was the brightening of the colours, keeping it closer to the vibrant wood you can see in real life and some of the later movies, rather than the gloomy build preferred especially in the earlier ones. Twilight’s blue-green filter is a staple of the first film, at the very least, but it feels like some of that darkness was lost in the build.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as pointed out by Kingofdrats on reddit: “Looks like they went for the actual colours the house is in real life and not the dark filtered look the movie shows it.”
…although some are disappointed with the architecture

Of course, with any major change, there are always going to be negative opinions too, with another redditor commenting: “I think it looks nice but nowhere near as cool as the original idea. I was planning on picking this up despite not being interested in Twilight but I probably won’t with this final design.”
“The original submission was greatly helped by the lighting in the renders, but it also suggested a set that would be as much architecture as Twilight,” agreed OutrageousLemon. “I just took it for granted that I’d buy it despite knowing even less than I thought about Twilight, but I think the final set is a pass.”
Some are calling out the hefty price tag

With a price of £189.99 / $219.99 / €219.99, 21354 Twilight: The Cullen House is far from cheap, which is hard for many to ignore – especially given there are some glaring character omissions.
“Absolutely should have been priced lower- like $160,” wrote itsyagirlrey on reddit. “There’s no reason for it to be $219 when it’s 2,001 pieces and it doesn’t even have the whole family?? Would it have killed them to include three more minifigures for the complete Cullen family?”
Especially when certain key characters are missing
Specifically, some fans are calling for fan-favourite characters like the burly Emmett to have been included. Admittedly, the final number of seven minifigures is still an increase from the four suggested in the original fan design but when you start adding some, it inevitably leads to questions about why you didn’t add them all.
At least the designers knew the real unsung love interest of the Twilight series, especially now some of the OG fans have grown up a bit. While teens may have swooned over Bella and Edward, those returning to the movies now often focus on the moustachioed Billy Burke, who plays Bella’s dad Charlie – and notably does get his own minifigure.
“Do I want the Twilight LEGO set? Nah. Do I want the minifigure of Billy Burke? You bet I do,” wrote one X user.

Some people are all in
Regardless of those critiques, there are still plenty enough people publicly stating that they’re planing to buy the set – or are at the very least ecstatic to finally see Twilight in brick-built form. So long after the franchise concluded, many might have thought it would never happen, so for plenty of people, it appears to be a pleasant surprise, even if there are fair criticisms to be levelled.
LEGO Ideas 21354 Twilight: The Cullen House is available to pre-order now for £189.99 / $219.99 / €219.99 ahead of its launch on February 1, 2025.
