Remember this for next LEGO The Lord of the Rings set and rumoured GWP

What is presumably the next LEGO The Lord of the Rings set has a GWP rumoured, and there’s a lesson to be learnt after last time.

After a first look at what is likely the next LEGO The Lord of the Rings set surfaced on LEGO.com, a rumour for an accompanying gift-with-purchase was soon to follow. You can find out more about the rumour (with a pinch of salt) by clicking here, but there’s a clear lesson to be learnt after 40693 The Lord of the Rings: Fell Beast.

To accompany 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr, the LEGO Group offered the set-exclusive 40693 The Lord of the Rings: Fell Beast at launch, and as you might expect, it was incredibly popular. The exclusive model ended up selling out within hours of the tower’s launch and is currently fetching prices of around £150 on eBay or £100 on BrickLink.

Should the most recent rumour be accurate, 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire will be accompanied by 40761 Sméagol and Déagol with 181 pieces. Assuming this would be available upon release like last time, it would certainly be as popular as 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr and 40693 The Lord of the Rings: Fell Beast.

Let this be a lesson to anyone eagerly awaiting 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire and the rumoured gift-with-purchase. Make sure you’re either first in line at your local LEGO store or on LEGO.com immediately for the launch to avoid missing out on both builds and paying a pretty penny on the secondary marketplace.

We’re still waiting for a proper reveal of 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire. 40761 Sméagol and Déagol remains only a rumour to be taken with caution for now, too. Make sure you’ve got a LEGO Insiders account set up just in case, and we’ll let you know when further details for the former set and any confirmation of the latter is revealed.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
