Retired LEGO Marvel set sells out at LEGO – but it’s still discounted at John Lewis

LEGO Marvel 76255 The New Guardians’ Ship has finally sold out at LEGO.com, but don’t worry if you missed out: it’s still available and reduced to clear at John Lewis.

The flagship Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 set originally launched in April 2023 for £89.99, and lasted only eight months before the LEGO Group halted production. It’s since spent the first quarter of 2024 shifting its unsold stock, which is probably bad news for its bean counters, but great news for us: a set that doesn’t sell especially well means the chance to take advantage of big discounts.

And while the opportunity for those at LEGO.com has passed – it’s now sold out in the UK and in all likelihood won’t be coming back – you can still snap up 76255 The New Guardians’ Ship before it’s gone for good at John Lewis. The 1,108-piece model and its five minifigures (four of which are exclusive here) is still available for £62.99 right now.

While 76255 The New Guardians’ Ship might not have been a phenomenally popular set, it’s exactly those kinds of oddities that tend to do well on the aftermarket – especially when they fall under a licensed property and boast exclusive minifigures. This set has four of those, including Nebula, Drax and Mantis in their dark blue suits and the gold-tinted Adam Warlock, who’s currently priced at an average of £22 alone on BrickLink.

That value is surely only set to go in one direction as the last copies of this model disappear from the market, so if you want to add the Guardians character to your collection, picking up 76255 The New Guardians’ Ship from John Lewis while stocks last is probably your best bet. The LEGO Marvel model is currently marked as ‘reduced to clear’ at the retailer, so when it’s gone, it’s gone.

Head over to John Lewis to secure one of the few remaining copies of 76255 The New Guardians’ Ship for only £62.99 (with free standard delivery).

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
