Rumoured LEGO City summer 2024 sets get pre-release price hikes

The rumoured prices for eight of the LEGO City summer 2024 sets have shifted slightly, with the majority experiencing pre-release price hikes – including those in the jungle subtheme…

The next wave of LEGO City sets is slated to arrive on shelves in August in the US, but based on previous years will likely debut in June in the UK and Europe. That’s apparently still far enough away that the LEGO Group can shuffle around the RRPs for these sets, as redditor Clay_Bricks reports that seven of the models have received a price bump – while one has actually decreased slightly in price.

Among the affected sets are three of the four rumoured LEGO City jungle 2024 sets. 60424 Jungle Explorer ATV Red Panda Mission – as it’s now apparently called – will supposedly retail for $10.99 rather than $9.99; 60425 Jungle Explorer Water Plane is said to be coming in at $22.99 rather than $19.99; and 60426 Jungle Explorer Off-Road Truck will reportedly cost $34.99 rather than $29.99.

Those are relatively minor bumps all things considered, and the largest set of the jungle wave – 60437 Jungle Explorer Helicopter at Base Camp – is still believed to be retailing for $99.99. If you want the entire quartet, you’re now going to be paying $168.96 on release day rather than $159.96. The more egregious changes actually affect the generic LEGO City sets, including 60421 Robot World Roller-Coaster Park.

That summer 2024 LEGO City set is now thought to retail for $99.99, or $20 more than previously expected. Likewise 60408 Car Transport Truck with Sports Cars, which was also originally due to retail for $79.99 but has now received a price bump to $99.99. Finally, 60420 Yellow Construction Excavator has jumped from $49.99 to $54.99, while 60423 Downtown Streetcar and Station has risen from $79.99 to $89.99.

On the other hand, the 4+ set 60435 Tow Truck and Sports Car Repair has come down from $24.99 to $19.99, but that’s pretty much the only positive change for the LEGO City summer 2024 range. Still, these changes show that the LEGO Group’s pricing strategy is still in motion, so who knows what else could affect these sets between now and their release?

That’s if they exist at all: for now, they’re still just rumours. Check out all the changes to prices and set names in the table below, but take them with the customary pinch of salt.
