First rumoured LEGO Harry Potter summer 2024 set returns to Diagon Alley

This summer’s first rumoured LEGO Harry Potter set is said to return to Diagon Alley, building on last year’s 76422 Diagon Alley: Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.

The LEGO Group has already delivered the ultimate rendition of the magical shopping street between 75978 Diagon Alley and 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition, but it’s now started pumping out smaller versions of the street’s most iconic buildings for those without the deepest of pockets. The ‘Diagon Alley’ prefix on 76422 suggests it’s the start of a new subtheme of Wizarding World sets, and the latest rumours only support that assumption.

According to Instagram user fateful_lego, product number 76439 will belong to the next smaller-scale addition to LEGO Diagon Alley (as we predicted when the first set numbers and price points for the summer 2024 LEGO Harry Potter sets appeared online). Weighing in at $89.99 for 744 pieces, 76439 Ollivanders Wand Shop & Madam Malkin’s Robes would match the RRP of Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.

That set includes a second adjacent building in the form of the Owl Post, so it would make sense for the first follow-up model to also lean into two different Diagon Alley establishments. Where the two buildings in 76422 Diagon Alley: Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes are different sizes, though – the joke shop sits on a corner, eating up most of the piece count to leave Owl Post tall and narrow – Ollivanders and Madam Malkin’s could conceivably come in at the same dimensions.

It would explain why both buildings are mentioned in the set name, but we won’t know for sure until images of 76439 Ollivanders Wand Shop & Madam Malkin’s Robes land online. And that’s if the set exists at all: for now, it’s purely a rumour, so take it with the usual grain of salt. But Ollivanders is arguably the most iconic shop in Diagon Alley after Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, so it would make total sense for the LEGO Group to head there next.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
