Rumoured LEGO Wicked theme already has the perfect feature
With rumours of a LEGO Wicked theme swirling, the perfect feature for musical sets has already been revealed thanks to 76429 Talking Sorting Hat.
Wicked’s first trailer has been revealed and there are rumours of a full theme based on the Universal Pictures musical movie for October 2024. Notably, the LEGO Group is teasing some sort of collab on social media but further details have not been confirmed.
This wouldn’t be the first LEGO theme based on a musical after Trolls: World Tour and The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, but 2024 is arguably the best time for one. LEGO Harry Potter is debuting a new kind of sound brick as part of 76429 Talking Sorting Hat on March 1 and the element is more functional than ever before. Videos of the model and brick have demonstrated that it can store and play a variety of sounds, combining them at random.
The new sound brick can store enough sounds for 31 different combinations, meaning it theoretically should be able to store a few longer sounds. LEGO Wicked has yet to be confirmed, though it has been teased, and musical models could benefit greatly from a sound brick playing the film’s tunes.
As exciting as it would be to have the entirety of any one of the musical’s songs on a sound brick, short clips from them are more likely (and would be less annoying over time). While a sound brick for the rumoured LEGO Wicked theme seems perfect, it all depends on whether the rumoured theme would have the budget for even one of the new sound bricks.
For now, 76429 Talking Sorting Hat is the only home of the new sound brick and it launches on March 1 for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99. Four LEGO sets are rumoured for Wicked, including one for $89.99.
