Shoppers queue for custom LEGO St David’s Day minifigures
Shoppers were queuing up early to get their hands on limited edition custom LEGO minifigures on St David’s Day.
On March 1, a selection of five custom LEGO minifigures were sold in aid of charity at St David’s Shopping Centre in Cardiff, UK. With only 50 of each minifigure available, hundreds of customers start queuing ahead of the centre opening to be sure of getting them, Wales 247 reports. They sold out long before the shopping mall closed at 5.00pm.
The five minifigures were Gareth Bale, Gareth ‘Alfie’ Thomas, Ruth Jones as Nessa from Gavin and Stacey, Sir Tom Jones and Dame Shirley Bassey.
Each minifigure required a minimum charity donation of £5. Velindre, Pride Cymru, Ty Hafan, Valley’s Kids and Noah’s Ark will benefit from sales of the little LEGO people.
“We’re really looking forward to seeing shoppers’ reactions to the celebrity mini figures, we absolutely love them, and it’s great to see each character come to life,” Hywel Butcher from St David’s Shopping Centre told ITV News. “Over the years, our shoppers have shown incredible generosity to our charitable appeals – such donating thousands of toys to our Toy Appeal, or queuing out of the door for our artwork inspired by the city raising tens of thousands of pounds.”
