Six of the most iconic LEGO minifigure dads
It’s Father’s Day in the UK and US and the LEGO Group’s massive collection of minifigures is full of dads of varying parental quality.
Not all LEGO minifigure dads are equal, but Father’s Day is a time to appreciate the dad or father figure in your life. The LEGO Group’s celebrations for 2023 include a make and take event at LEGO stores today as well as the release of a special Star Wars video.
To commemorate the day, here are six of the most iconic dads available now as LEGO minifigures, both good and not-so-good.
6 – Garmadon
NINJAGO’s Garmadon, father of Lloyd, might have taken some time and a few tries to get the parenting thing right, but thankfully he got there in the end and fought by his son’s side in Crystalized.
Whether he will make an appearance in Dragons Rising has yet to be seen. His minifigure is currently available in 71775 Nya’s Samurai X MECH.
5 – King Triton
Also starting out as a less-than-ideal dad, King Triton’s overprotective nature may have caused Ariel to flee from him at first but in both the animated and live-action versions, they made up before Ariel started a new life with Prince Eric.
King Triton’s minifigure is out now in 43225 The Little Mermaid Royal Clamshell.
4 – Bowser
Bowser is the father of Bowser Jr., in case you couldn’t guess from the name, and while Bowser is an antagonist to the Mushroom Kingdom, the games showcase that he cares about his son. Notably, this point is most clearly showcased in a Nintendo Switch parental controls video.
You can find Bowser as a huge figure in 71411 The Mighty Bowser or as a smaller figure in 71408 Peach’s Castle.
3 – Din Djarin
While the first two seasons proved that Din cared deeply about Grogu, the third season made it clear that Din is Grogu’s father by having him adopt the child and move to a new home to continue their adventures.
While we wait for the next chapter of The Mandalorian, you can find Din and Grogu in quite a few sets, including the upcoming 75361 Spider Tank.
2 – Harry Potter
At the end of his story, it was revealed that Harry Potter had become a father to James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna Potter, seeing them off as they began their Hogwarts journey.
This moment has been recreated in the massive 76405 Hogwarts Express – Collectors’ Edition complete with minifigures.
1 – Darth Vader
One of the most iconic dads in pop culture, Darth Vader has had many minifigures. He’s not exactly a good father for most of the original trilogy, but he’s certainly recognisable.
There are many models including Darth Vader but both he and Luke are included in 75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama, complete with an appropriate quote tile.
