A new LEGO Ideas challenge will result in a gift reimagining a classic set for the modern day, and here are six themes worthy of the opportunity.
The latest LEGO Ideas challenge is asking enthusiasts to reimagine an older set as if it were being released today, with the grand prize package including the chance to have the winning submission transformed into a future gift-with-purchase.
You can find out more about the challenge by clicking here. Whatever wins, it's sure to be a nostalgic addition to the list of every LEGO Ideas gift-with-purchase released so far.

Submission intake starts now and will remain open until April 30. For those looking for inspiration, here are six themes that deserve a reimagined model from this challenge.
Classic Space
Classic Space has been subject to a few gifts-with-purchase (and a LEGO Insiders reward) so far, and while it doesn't necessarily need another one compared to other themes, it's almost certainly going to be the subject of many submissions in the challenge.
The ongoing legacy and impact of LEGO Classic Space can still be felt in the portfolio today, including in the recent
BIONICLE

Following 40581 BIONICLE Tahu and Takua, another BIONICLE gift-with-purchase is entirely possible thanks to this challenge to recreate another of the Toa. The concept of a System BIONICLE figure has already been proven as a success in terms of execution.
While it probably won't have the popularity and amount of support as Classic Space, BIONICLE is still worthy of winning this challenge, but it will probably need the dedication of the entire BIONICLE community to stand a decent chance of winning after a previous failed attempt at a modern model.
Pirates

LEGO Icons
An additional gift-with-purchase would go a long way in sprucing up such a scene, though, and there are several classic LEGO Pirates models to take inspiration from to stay within the 200 to 250 piece count. From 6270 Forbidden Island to 6248 Volcano Island, LEGO Pirates has enough potential for an Ideas gift-with-purchase and has plenty of nostalgia to give it a boost in the challenge.
Castle
LEGO Castle is all but certain to earn at least one spot in the fan vote of this LEGO Ideas challenge after the LEGO community's continuous show of support for modern models in the BrickLink Designer Program.
With two gifts-with-purchase under its belt already, redesigning classic sets with new techniques, LEGO Castle is certain to be a popular subject in the challenge, and a small remake of 10000 Guarded Inn might be a logical step following the reference in
Fabuland

With LEGO Fabuland earning a major tribute in the latest LEGO House-exclusive set, the theme is currently fresh in minds of the community and it wouldn't be surprising to see it appear in a few submissions in the new LEGO Ideas challenge.
The new 40506 LEGO Fabuland Tribute focused on larger depictions of some of the theme's iconic characters, but miniature versions similar to those of 11021 90 Years of Play would be a great alternative for a smaller Fabuland gift-with-purchase.
Technic

Should the LEGO Ideas team wish to avoid minifigures and characters entirely with this next gift-with-purchase, they can turn to Technic instead. The long-running LEGO theme deserves a spot or two in the new challenge, and a remake of some of the theme's first models (which use many more System elements than current sets) would work well.
After the small remake of 853 Car Chassis in 40505 LEGO Building Systems, a bigger version of that build is ideal for a small but unique LEGO Ideas gift-with-purchase compared to the rest of the theme's promotional products.
