Sonic Central showcases fifth LEGO set, Sonic Superstars DLC and more 

As teased, the fifth LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog set, a pre-order character skin for Sonic Superstars and more was at Sonic Central. 

Sonic Central for June 2023 proved an exciting event for enthusiasts of the Blue Blur and, surprisingly, there was an entire section dedicated to the new LEGO theme, separate from the main merchandise segment. 

It started with a repeat of the previous trailer for the sets, quickly overtaken by Eggman and a new rap celebrating a few of his achievements. This included a look at the fifth model, which has yet to receive a listing on LEGO.com.  

76993 Sonic vs. Dr. Eggman’s Death Egg Robot has been revealed already by the Kids Zone of the official LEGO website, but at least we have another showcase of the model thanks to Eggman. 

The antagonist moved on to shave designer Carl Merriam’s head and show off a Sonic figure that seems unlikely to receive any official model, judging by the box art. The printed eyes seem like an odd inclusion if this is just for a joke though. Nothing has been confirmed at this time.  

This segment included a tongue-in-cheek jab at the brick-built figure from 21331 Sonic the Hedgehog – Green Hill Zone too. 

After Eggman’s rap video, the official confirmation of the character skin for Sonic Superstars was showcased, including a trailer that features the LEGO Sonic minifigure as well as the build from 76994 Sonic’s Green Hill Zone Loop Challenge. 

So far, only the Eggman minifigure has been confirmed to be in the game but if the trailer is anything to go by, this could be a full-fledged Sonic experience. The trailer description specifically states that LEGO Sonic is coming to the game, suggesting that the Blue Blur will receive a skin of the minifigure too. 

The character outfit, at least, is available with all pre-orders of Sonic Superstars ahead of its release later this year.  A LEGOLAND offer to get kids in for free with the purchase of a One-Day Adult Ticket was also announced, but this doesn’t tie into Sonic the Hedgehog beyond the URL for the deal.

No new games were announced, as is usually the case with Sonic Central, focusing on partnerships instead. You can watch the full show by clicking on the first video in this report.
