Upcoming Sonic Superstars to include LEGO pre-order bonus character

An exclusive in-game LEGO character skin is reported as being a pre-order bonus with SEGA’s upcoming Sonic Superstars.

SEGA revealed a first look at its next Sonic the Hedgehog game yesterday, with a trailer debuting during the latest Nintendo Direct event. Sonic Superstars returns the series to its classic 2D roots with a colourful side-scrolling title that features Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy Rose as playable characters.

Developed by Arzest and Team Sonic, the game takes place across 12 new zones and will be the first such Sonic title to include four-player local co-op. In addition, it’s now been revealed that some pre-orders of Sonic Superstars will receive an acrylic game stand, a reversible cover and an exclusive LEGO Eggman in-game character skin.

The promotional image above was posted by Twitter user Wario64 and states that the offer is linked to US retailer Best Buy, although it doesn’t appear to be live just yet. The pre-order shows the look of the villain as matching the figure included with the upcoming 76994 Sonic’s Green Hill Zone Loop Challenge and the previously-teased 76993 Sonic vs. Dr. Eggman’s Death Egg Robot that can currently be seen on the Play Zone section of LEGO.com.

SEGA’s iconic blue mascot will be receiving his very own LEGO theme this summer, with at least five sets confirmed to date. A short teaser video was also tweeted by the LEGO Group yesterday alerting fans about a Sonic Central announcement due tomorrow, so be sure to check that out to see what will be revealed.

Sonic Superstars will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch and PC later this year.
