Star Wars’ Andor cleans up at the Critics Choice Awards

Star Wars’ Andor has cleaned up this year, pulling in two nominations at the Critics Choice Awards.

Announced on December 6, the first season of Andor has been nominated as one of the Best Drama Series of the year. It will be going up against a number of other well-received shows, including Bad Sisters, Better Call Saul, The Crown, Euphoria, The Good Fight, House of the Dragon, Severance, and Yellowstone.

Lead actor, Diego Luna, has landed a Best Actor nomination as well, after his outstanding performance throughout the 12 episodes of the show. He will be fighting to win against Jeff Bridges from The Old Man, Sterling K. Brown from This is Us, Bob Odenkirk from Better Call Saul, Adam Scott from Severance, and Anthony Starr from The Boys.

These nominations mark the start of 2022’s awards season, with Andor anticipated to pull in more nominations across a number of categories, as well as rank in various end-of-the-year round-ups. The Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild both tend to do their own lists, expected to be revealed on January 11.

The Critics Choice Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, January 15, airing on The CW in the United States. While there’s no word yet on how to watch from other areas of the world, past years have seen combinations of live-streamed content and clips from the ceremony shared on social media afterwards.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
