First-person Star Wars Mandalorian game rumoured
A new Star Wars game is rumoured to be in development, believed to focus on a Mandalorian bounty hunter with first-person gameplay.
According to Insider Gaming, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor developers Respawn are working on a Mandalorian game, but not featuring the titular character of The Mandalorian. Instead of Din Djarin, it’s believed that the rumoured game will focus on a new bounty hunter of Mandalorian origin complete with armour and a jetpack.
It’s stated that the game will take place when the Empire is ruling across the galaxy, before The Mandalorian. The jetpack is believed to be central to the gameplay, which is rumoured to be fast-paced and offers the option to dash in the air, on the ground and while sliding using the jetpack.
The game also isn’t believed to be an open-world title like many other Star Wars games available and on the way. Instead, it’s mentioned as being a linear level-based game taking place on different planets. The player’s arsenal of tools is said to include a wrist rocket, grappling hook, visor for tagging enemies and more.
While it’s rumoured to be a different Star Wars game than Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi series, the notion of fast-paced gameplay on linear levels isn’t dissimilar to the first title in the series and parts of the second.
There is no rumoured release date for the game at the time of writing but it’s mentioned that it could be a year or two away at least. In the meantime, we can look forward to The Mandalorian and Grogu movie, which starts production later this year.
