While it’s already been confirmed that another 90th-anniversary LEGO set is coming later this year as the result of an Ideas fan vote, those who can’t wait to commemorate the company can now get involved with 11021 90 Years of Play.
It seems safe to assume that for many, LEGO Classic sets aren’t as high a priority as themes such as Marvel and Star Wars. That might be down to the theme covering basic concepts with open-ended boxes of bricks. However, 11021 90 Years of Play changes that by taking inspiration from current and retired themes and documenting brick history.
From Bionicle to Friends and even a trip to Fabuland, each of the 15 miniature models is featured on the back of the box, with information on when they release and a comparison to the original sets.
It’s hard to argue that the builds are simpler than their previous models, but that means that 11021 90 Years of Play can remain relatively affordable, while still paying homage to the history of the LEGO Group.
11021 90 Years of Play is available now on the official online store for £44.99 / €49.99 / $49.99.
