This year’s most expensive LEGO set doesn’t hail from Star Wars, Marvel, Harry Potter or even Icons. Instead, LEGO Technic has claimed that crown with 42146 Liebherr Crawler Crane LR 13000, a LEGO set so large that it requires specially-made counterweights to stop it toppling over (just like in real life). It usually comes in at £579.99, but Zavvi has slashed the price of the giant yellow machine down to just £429.99 for Black Friday.

At the time of writing, 76216 Iron Man Armoury is available for just $41.99, or a huge 53% off its $89.99 RRP. The same LEGO Marvel set ­– and its instant collection of Iron Man suits – is 40% off at LEGO.com in the US, but has already sold out at that level in the UK. It’s retiring this year, too.
