The LEGO Group scoops four Toy of the Year Awards at New York Toy Fair

The annual Toy of the Year Awards saw the LEGO Group awarded four prizes during the New York Toy Fair event.

With New York Toy Fair in full swing, the LEGO Group is celebrating winning four awards, including in the construction toy and playset categories. “We are honored to receive four T.O.T.Y. awards, and so grateful for the recognition from the industry and consumers,” said Skip Kodak, Senior Vice President, LEGO Systems, Inc. “We’re excited to continue developing innovative building experiences for children of all ages and interests.”

The Wizarding World was the key to much of the LEGO Group’s success, with Harry Potter products getting three of the four awards. 75954 Hogwarts Great Hall (review) was awarded the Construction Toy of the Year Award. Collectible Minifigures 71022 Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts won the Collectible of the Year award.

The big one received recognition too, with LEGO Harry Potter 71043 Hogwarts Castle receiving the Specialty Toy of the Year award. Given the positive reaction the set received from Potterheads when it launched last year, the prize is well deserved.

It was not just Harry Potter getting the prizes though, with Playset of the Year going to LEGO Creator Expert 10261 Roller Coaster. The set offers a completely unique play experience in the range, making the award it was given particularly apt.
